After nearly two years of project implementation, Soc Trang has constructed and installed 1,362 / 2.700 biogas plants, reaching 50.4%

  This result is modest compared to the needs of more than 11,000 conditional livestock households that meet the criteria set by the project. Soc Trang is one of the strongest cattle raising provinces in the Mekong Delta. With the capital and human resources of the LCASP project, the same progress will be achieved soon. With the local characteristics of dairy herds and pigs growing rapidly, the problem of waste treatment is considered by the provincial agriculture. We recommend that the central LCASP management board develop and install large and medium biogas plants as well as credit packages for households in need.

In the coming time, the LCASP project in Soc Trang will continue to implement the component of comprehensive management of animal waste, support the construction and development of biogas plants, implement the technology transfer component Low carbon agricultural production. The focus of agricultural restructuring is on increasing the proportion of animal production, addressing environmental issues and the income of farmers. We will therefore coordinate with the LCASP Central Project Management Unit and other relevant stakeholders to support and transfer advanced and locally adapted models; Especially in the field of dairy farming, seafood processing and agricultural waste byproducts ....
