If only based on the investment solution of medium and large biogas tunnel, it is likely that the livestock environment of Vietnam will still be affected.

Biogas digesters are not the optimal solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from livestock waste

Salt solves thoroughly the waste of livestock in farms, farms, need to have total solutions. If only based on the investment solution of medium and large biogas tunnel, it is likely that the livestock environment of Vietnam will still be affected.

Need a total solution
Mr. Dao Xuan Vinh, Deputy Director of the Project Management Unit for Low Carbon Agriculture (LCASP) in Bac Giang province said that in the implementation process, the demand for medium-sized tunnel of livestock farmers is quite large. For medium-sized buildings, one can build by brick tunnel model connection, volume of each tunnel about 100m3 or more.

However, there is a fact that many farms and farms have the need to use gas for cooking, electricity generation is not high. Excess gas is discharged directly into the environment. This is the greenhouse effect. Thus, it does not meet the objectives set by the project.

Regarding the investment efficiency of large scale biogas plants, according to the Bac Giang LCASP Project Management Board, many farms have applied HDPE tunneling. They pass many construction consulting channels.

"I think that the scale of farming is required to have environmental treatment, animal waste. Because of the thousands of pigs, no waste is wasted, especially liquid waste. If you are raising sows, you can sing stools, dry out the voids for sale. But raising porkers, they have to water, they rinse the cages throughout the day, the bagging is difficult to collect. But saying that building large-scale biogas reactors that can handle intensive livestock waste from large scale farms is not right. It should be considered as a process in the waste treatment process.

The solution for using manure presses to produce organic compost on farms is more feasible. We surveyed and found that this solution was adopted by owners of large farms and enthusiastic technology. 10 of them all raised their hands, 10 Mr. Vinh shared.

According to Vinh, if the farms have these machines, they can squeeze and produce cheap manure. Not only that, the advantage of Bac Giang is a large area of fruit trees such as oranges, cloths ... People still have to buy chicken manure, buffalo dung in the Hiep Hoa and Yen The district to apply. Even farmers in Thai Nguyen, Son La also go to Yen The to buy chicken manure. Therefore, it is possible to be confident that if you squeeze like that you will not worry about the output. But, the people's concern now is not knowing how stable the stool presses are and how effective they are.

When selecting stool pressing technology, the central and provincial LCASP project management boards and the Bac Giang provincial authorities have also calculated this problem very carefully. Firstly, the basic selection technology is suitable, quality assurance, imported from countries with advanced science and technology.

Great effect, but not yet thorough.
Hoai An (Binh Dinh) is a district that thrives on pig breeding since 2000. There are nearly 12,000 pig farms in the district with nearly 2,000 farms with 30 or more farms, 30 farms with hundreds of farms and even farms with thousands of pigs. In previous years, due to the spontaneous development of the husbandry, the density of breeding was so high that it was impossible to control the pollution which caused the epidemic and the death of pigs.

"Since most households in Hoai An have been aware of environmental protection through the construction of biogas tunnels, pollution has been limited. I would like to emphasize to the journalist the two words "limited", because it is not a "magic wand" that can thoroughly handle the pollution of the farm environment, especially the excess gas released into the environment. It will be the agent poisoning the air, "said Nguyen Van Tuc, an officer of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoai An in charge of the LCASP project.

LCASP Soc Trang has four implementation components, including: livestock waste management, credit for biogas value chains; Transfer of low carbon agricultural production technologies and project management. The project objective will be to support the construction of 3,600 small biogas plants, 4 medium biogas plants and 1 large biogas plant and environmental items with the norm of 3 million VND Small scale biogas works; Support 10 million VND / medium biogas plant and support 20 million VND / large scale biogas plant. Up to now, small scale biogas projects have been approved by the majority of people. However, for big scale biogas plants, farmers are still disturbed.

As for investment efficiency and environmental treatment of large scale biogas plants, according to Nguyen Xuan Hoan, LCASP Ha Tinh Project Director, Ha Tinh has not implemented this project yet. Specific instructions.

According to the Ha Tinh LCASP Project Management Board, only two large scale farming households are applying the low carbon project model. Because many farms with large area, lies in the ability to handle the environment. At the same time, far away from residential areas, the impact on society is not large, so few participants.

Although investing in the construction of a 200 m3 medium biogas reactor, the farm of Mr. Nguyen The Thuyet (Tien Dung, Yen Dung, Bac Giang) still pollutes the environment.

Tran Trung Hieu, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Nghia Hung District (Nam Dinh), said that the whole district had about 30 large scale breeding farms, but only one family participated in the project.

Mr. Hieu said: "In breeding, everyone wants to make biogas. But in fact, in the locality, the project is mainly small-scale, household size, and the size of the camp is very small. By part, these farms are far from residential areas, they have a large area so they have also actively built waste water reservoirs, waste, or self-tunneling. If the livestock is basically met but if the proper process of environmental treatment is all not guaranteed.

Mr Nguyen Trong Tan, the Nam Dinh LCASP coordinator, said: "The current farms are not responsive to the livestock environment. People want to do but high cost, they will not be salty. To ensure a livestock environment, people build their own off-site environmental projects, but do not guarantee quality, process or technology. Using the model of the project, it meets environmental criteria, procedures and techniques but high costs, but access to capital from banks is difficult and support is low.

"Through surveys on the need to build medium- and large-scale biogas reactors in farms and farms in Yen Dung district, most people are concerned about the longevity of these biogas plants. First, if the design of biogas cellar with HDPE material, its life expectancy is not high, the time has to change the canvas. If built of brick, many ground position is very weak, the possibility of cracking, permeability. Meanwhile, the investment cost for brick biogas plants is not small, "said Nguyen Thi Kha, an engineer at the Bac Giang LCASP project in charge of Yen Dung district.
