Implementation of the chicken farming model towards VietGAP, August 2016, Agricultural Extension Station in Anh Son district (Nghe An) implemented the project of raising crossbred chickens in Long Son commune. Initially the project has brought efficiency.

Nguyen Thi Huong's family in 11 communes of Long Son is one of the beneficiaries of this model. After the extension station supported 350 chickens, her family invested to build standard breeding facilities. In the process of raising the family, she was inspected and instructed by the staff of the agricultural extension station of Anh Son district to check the care and vaccination techniques, so that no diseases or losses were reported. Significant, large chickens very fast.
"The advantage of the fast growing and high-weight crossbred chickens with local grass chicken, the delicious meat should be preferred by the market," Huong added.
In August, 2004, Anh Son district extension station provided 700 chickens to 2 households in village 11 of Long Son commune with the total cost of over VND60 million. Each household is supported with one hundred and thirty one-day-old chickens, food bran and technical guidelines for breeding facilities. In addition, the households are supported with medicines to prevent diseases, strict application of vaccination schedule, ensuring sufficient protein, minerals and vitamins.
Thanks to the grazing process, after 2 months of breeding, the average weight of each chicken is from 1.7 to 2kg. With prices ranging from 100,000-120,000 VND / kg, it is estimated that after 3 months, farmers earn more than VND40 million / lot 350.
Mr Nguyen Quang Phung, a farm extension worker in Anh Son district, shared: Traditionally, chickens are susceptible to respiratory and intestinal diseases, high rates of loss and slow growth. But when implementing the model towards VietGAP, the disease improved significantly. The faster the chicken, the weight of the chicken outperformed the local chicken.
